Recap: 5G-ACIA Industrial 5G Day in Tokyo

The Alliance for Private Networks recently participated as an official sponsor at the 5G‑ACIA Industrial 5G Day in Tokyo, Japan, reinforcing our commitment to advancing industrial and enterprise adoption of private 5G networks.

Held at the Miraikan (The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation), the event brought together global industry leaders, technology providers, policymakers, and researchers to explore real‑world progress and future opportunities for Industrial 5G.

Key Contributions

As part of the program, Dr Ed Tiedemann Jr., Board Chairman of the Alliance, delivered a presentation focused on the importance of PLMN‑ID and Network Identifier (NID) assignments for private and industrial 5G deployments. His remarks highlighted how proper network identification supports:

  • Secure and reliable private network operations
  • Clear separation between public and private networks
  • Scalable deployment models for industrial environments

These considerations are critical as enterprises move to full‑scale deployment of private networks across manufacturing, mining, and ports/transportation.

Strengthening Global Collaboration

During the event, the Alliance engaged directly with 5G‑ACIA members, technology vendors, and regional stakeholders in Japan. The event underscored the growing global alignment around private 5G as a foundational technology for industrial digital transformation.

The event also provided an opportunity to share the Alliance’s perspective on standards‑based approaches, interoperability, and best practices that enable enterprises to deploy private networks with confidence.

Looking Ahead

The Alliance values opportunities like the Industrial 5G Day to collaborate with industry partners, contribute to technical dialogue, and help shape the future of private 5G worldwide.

Thank you, 5G‑ACIA and all participants, for a productive and engaging event, and we look forward to continued collaboration as industrial private networks move toward broader adoption.
