Uni5G™ Technology Blueprints Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Below are frequently asked questions regarding the MFA Uni5G Technology Blueprints.
Q: What are Uni5G Technology Blueprints?
A: MFA’s Uni5G Technology Blueprints are based on existing 3GPP 5G specifications and help provide guidance to enterprises looking to deploy private 5G networks in unlicensed, shared and locally licensed spectrum. The initial set of Uni5G blueprints allows enterprises to identify key functionalities to implement from 3GPP Release 15 that address their specific use cases.
The first Uni5G Technology Blueprints release includes three blueprint families that map 3GPP features to requirements for coverage, reliability, connection density, and latency.
Q: I am not a member of MFA, can I still access the Uni5G Technology Blueprints?
A: The Uni5G Technology Blueprints are available for public download here.
Q: How will Uni5G Technology Blueprints help my enterprise deploy a private 5G network?
A: Industry verticals that want to deploy a private 5G network are often not telecom experts and they may not know where to start. Uni5G Technology Blueprints provide that starting point.
For example, if a shipping port requires reliability and coverage, it can leverage the Uni5G blueprint to understand which features from 3GPP Release 15 it needs to implement for either a basic device or an advanced device. By focusing and implementing selected features from the Uni5G blueprint families, industry verticals can simplify their path to 5G private networks.
Q: I downloaded the Uni5G Technology Blueprints, what do I do next?
A: Uni5G Technology Blueprints provide a map to the 3GPP Release 15 specification features that are needed for specific functionalities. Industry verticals can utilize Uni5G as a tool to determine which features are required for their specific deployment needs. These industry verticals can then share the Uni5G blueprint with their device or equipment manufacturers to let them know which features need to be implemented in their devices for 5G private networks.
Q: What industry verticals will benefit from Uni5G Technology Blueprints?
A: Any vertical that would benefit from increased automation and digitalization realized from private 5G networks, including but not limited to: manufacturing, warehouses and logistics, ports, oil & gas.
